Mild and dry weekend, near 80 on Sunday
Winds have relaxed and the skies are mostly sunny today. Expect to see the mercury in the thermometer rise into the middle to upper 70s today, followed by near 80 degree conditions Sunday. High pressure to the south and east of Oregon will be able to provide the above normal conditions for the next several days.
The sunny and dry pattern will be excellent for any outdoor activities planned this weekend. This lingering warmth will be good news for any events that are occurring so get out and enjoy. The cooler conditions are just around the corner, but for now there is a lingering summer-type temperature profile in October, so we might as well take advantage of it.
The only fly in the ointment today and tomorrow will be the smoky skies. There are a number of fires located in the Cascades and they are still puffing out smoke. The bulk of the smoky pattern is coming from unburned fuel inside the footprint of the wildfires. Unfortunately, some perimeter breaches have been experience with the windy conditions we experienced Friday. The work by area wildland firefighters is awesome, but the smoke is still there.
Remember, when a fire is contained, or mostly contained, it doesn’t mean that the fires are out. Smoke still rises and dissipates into the area so keep an eye on the air quality reports and prepare properly.
