Oregon Transportation Commission to discuss budget, DMV voter registration issues Thursday at Bend meeting

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Oregon Transportation Commission will hold its regular meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m. The meeting will originate from the Bend Riverhouse Lodge, 3075 North Highway 97.

Items on the agenda include:

  • DMV Voter Registration Issue: An update on DMV’s work with registering customers to vote under the Oregon Motor Voter law.
  • Legislative Joint Committee on Transportation 2024 Tour Update: Receive information on the Joint Committee on Transportation’s Statewide Tour and give direction and feedback to ODOT staff.
  • ODOT Operations Report: receive a report on ODOT operations, including project delivery, customer services and budget.
  • Road User Fee Task Force Report: Receive the Road User Fee Task Force’s report on transportation revenue options.
  • Truck Taxation: Review a presentation on truck taxation in Oregon.
  • 2027-2030 STIP Update: An update on the development of the 2027-2030 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.
  • Amendments to the 2024-2027 STIP: Amend the 2024-2027 STIP to add $5.9 million to the construction phase of the OR 18: Newberg-Dundee Bypass Phase 2a project; increase funding for the Willamette River Source Control Improvements project by $25 million.
  • Central Oregon Area Commission on Transportation Update: Receive an update on the Central Oregon ACT 2024-2025 work plan.

How to provide public comment

Submit written comment in advance of the meeting and sign up for public comment, either in person or virtual. Sign up to provide comments by completing the comment form on our website at www.oregon.gov/odot/Get-involved/Pages/OTC_Main.aspx. Please sign up by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 8. 

Please note participation will be limited to one representative per organization. Commenters (and organizations) who are providing public comment to the OTC for the first time will be given priority for the limited available testimony spots.

To submit written comments electronically, please use the submission form on the OTC website by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 8, to guarantee inclusion in the meeting packet. Comments not included in the meeting packet will be shared with commissioners after the meeting.

Additional Informaion

In conjunction with the commission meeting, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, commissioners will join ODOT staff and others for lunch and a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bend North Corridor project.

That evening, there will be a no-host dinner at the Deschutes North Room of the Riverhouse Lodge at 6 p.m. with ODOT leadership and members of the OTC. There is no agenda for the dinner and no formal business will be discussed.
