Cool again today before we are mild for the weekend

Today is our last cool day before we climb back into more mild temperatures for our weekend. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 50s. Lows tonight in the 20s and 30s.

Expect cold temperatures as your stepping outside this morning. Temperatures this morning will be in the teens and 20s. Give yourself a few extra minutes to heat up your car or scrape frost off your windshield.   

Due to the rain we saw yesterday and subfreezing temperatures overnight, be careful driving because there is a small chance for some ice on the roads.

Your weekend forecast looks comfortable and above normal. We’ll reach the low to mid 70s. Another chance for rain will start Sunday night into Monday morning as a new low pressure starts to approach for early next week. Cooler air comes back by Monday and we’ll be right about normal to start the week, in the upper 50s and low 60s.

The Climate Prediction Center released its 2024-25 Winter Weather Outlook yesterday and has officially announced La Niña conditions are expected for this winter.  La Niña, and its opposite El Niño, are climate patterns characterized by the natural fluctuations in ocean temperatures over a period of time. La Niña is a period of “cooling” of water in the Eastern Pacific. It will be a weaker La Niña, but in general, that means the Northwest can expect a colder and wetter winter. Get ready for a good snow season!
