Street Dog Hero hosts brunch party, inviting community to learn more and become fosters, volunteers

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Street Dog Hero hosted a foster and volunteer brunch at Ponderosa Park, on Sunday. It was a chance for people to gather more information about fostering and volunteering with the organization, as well as, being able to have a light breakfast, meeting fosters, volunteers and staff. 

 Currently, the nonprofit has about 250 foster homes, and is looking for more. There are about 10 dogs and puppies currently looking to be fostered. Dogs like Aiden and Valentina are from the same litter and are both available for adoption. 

"Being a foster - I think it's one of those things that I love so much," foster Jill Gentes said, "because you get to experience the joy of the dogs - and then the joy of seeing them going to new homes."

Street Dog Hero Executive Director Kristen Elrod said, "It's a pretty cold and dreary day, so we're really happy with the turnout, and it just shows what a great foster and volunteer community we have. We're really fortunate! We have the best fosters and volunteers, so it's really great to just get to hang out with them."

Street Dog Hero will provide training and more continued education for its fosters and volunteers. To become a foster or volunteer, you can fill out an application on their website, and staff will reach out to follow up.
