Participants take part in Bend’s “I Like Pie” run on Thanksgiving

Bend, ORE. (KTVZ) -- More than 3,500 runners and walkers took part in the annual "I Like Pie" run in the Old Mill District.

Participants could either complete a 1.5 mile or 5k through the Old Mill District. The event, organized by Cascade Relays has been going on for 19 years.

"It's a tradition to come down here to Bend to enjoy all the celebration. Just to see everybody thankful and to have a day we can just enjoy together." said one of the participants.

Event registrants received a race bib, a slice of pie, and an "I Like Pie" beanie.

"Pie. It digests right? But the beanie, that's going to last forever." said Scott Douglass, CEO of Cascade Relays.

This year's event raised $39,000 to support the Boys and Girls Club of Bend, its beneficiary since 2007.
