‘Above and beyond expectations’: Reactions to the new library in Redmond
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The giant 400,000-square-foot space of the new Redmond Library is all but ready to open later this month. The new open design has tons of seating, on top of that there’s a lounge and a massive community hall that can be rented for events. The people behind the new library says it’s above and beyond their expectations.
Sonja Brandajes, operations supervisor at the Redmond Library, said, “I think it's amazing! I think when you start going from line drawings to plans to blueprints to construction, you start seeing it evolve and you kind of make up things in your head of what it's going to be at the end. I think a lot of people kind of give you pause and say it might not be exactly what you envisioned. This actually exceeded everything I could have imagined.”
Behind the scenes, the library has a new state-of-the-art automated book sorter. Even with all the new features, you won't need a new library card to use them all. All the old books are still there, alongside many, many new ones.
