Summer feel heading into the weekend
There have been a good deal of high clouds hovering over the region early Wednesday with a slight chance for some light rain over the mountains tonight. I expect to see the temperatures hit the middle 70s and dip to the low 40s tonight.
The pattern is still trending above normal, although not as warm as expected earlier. Mid -70s are likely Thursday under partly cloudy skies then followed by low 80s on Friday.
The ridge of high pressure that is providing the warmth is staying in place to start the weekend with Friday being the warmest day of the weekend. The mercury in the thermometer hits the low 80s Friday, but will not be able to hit that again Saturday.
Saturday will be partly cloudy and the ridge flattens and dips east and south. Highs will reach the upper 70s and there will be a noticeably breezy conditions in the afternoon. Winds will be in the 10 – 15 mph range and will be arriving from the southwest. This will bring in some mild air but also some moisture. Rain showers are possible on Sunday; therefore Saturday is going to be the setup day for the light rain Sunday.
Mother’s Day is going to be mild and partly to mostly cloudy. A very low chance of a shower is now being introduced to the weather pattern, but mainly just a passing or stray shower is expected. Keep some rain gear handy if you are enjoying any events outside Sunday, but it will be in no way a washout.
Monday will be much cooler as a deep trough dives into the region from the Gulf of Alaska. Scattered showers are possible and we should only reach the upper 50s. The cooler than normal pattern will likely linger into the middle of the new work week.
Please stay safe.
