BPRD has a summer reminder for you, no bridge jumping

BEND, Ore. --(KTVZ)-- With the summer weather here, people are rushing to the water, but you may notice this summer kids climbing bridges to jump off. KTVZ News spoke to Bend Park and Rec Stewardship manager Joel Lee, who said not only is it dangerous, but it's also illegal.

Lee said you can get excluded from Bend's parks as well as a citation from Bend Police. We spoke to one Bend resident who says she understands why it's a hot issue.

Bend resident Rayen Jesse told KTVZ news "I can understand, you know, with everything there's different reasoning for why you do or don't like it, so I can understand that, but I personally would do it myself."

KTVZ News also spoke to other people off camera who although they don't live in Bend, said they do not support kids jumping off bridges. Bend Park and Rec has signs posted on and underneath bridges along the Deschutes River reminding residents to stay on the bridge.
