SpaceX rocket explodes in south Texas, here’s the dramatic video

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (KTVZ) — An explosion occurred late Wednesday night at SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, during a rocket test.

According to the company, a rocket on a test stand experienced what it called a “major anomaly.” The vehicle involved was a Starship rocket preparing for its 10th flight test.

SpaceX said all employees have been accounted for and no injuries were reported. The company also stated that there is no danger to the surrounding area.

The cause of the explosion and the extent of the damage are not yet known.

Starbase, located near the Gulf Coast in Cameron County, is SpaceX’s primary launch site for its next-generation Starship rockets, which are intended for missions to the moon and Mars.
