A Yellow Local Alert Day will go into effect Tuesday for strong storms slated to arrive Late Monday and again Tuesday

Storms are expected to arrive late Monday evening, around 10 pm after a hot afternoon (temps in the mid-90s). The storms will not be as strong overnight Monday, but another round of storms will arrive Tuesday afternoon should be more robust. This batch of storms Tuesday will bring gusty winds near 40 mph, small hail is possible but not likely, dangerous lightning, along with brief rounds of moderate to heavy rain.

The peak of the storms should be in the mid to late afternoon, peak heating, and taper off by 6pm or 7pm. The lightning will be frequent which is never a good thing. The Storm Prediction Center, as of Sunday afternoon, has placed the region in the "General Risk" for thunderstorm (not severe), both Monday and Tuesday. Again, the Monday storms look to arrive well after sunset.

Monday will be considered the "set up" day but there may be some storms moving north from Southern Oregon in the late afternoon. Stay tuned to all weather updates.
