Hot pattern ahead, Local Alert Weather Day coming Tuesday

We’re expecting calm weather through the rest of today and most of Monday as high pressure builds over the Pacific Northwest. That system will bring the heat, with afternoon highs climbing into the mid to upper 90s tomorrow.

The Storm Prediction Center, as of Sunday afternoon, has placed the region in the "General Risk" for thunderstorm (not severe), both Monday and Tuesday.

A low pressure system off the California coast could bring some storms to our area Monday night, possibly arriving around 10 pm, though they’re not expected to be very strong.

A Yellow Local Alert Weather Day has been issued for Tuesday, with Monday serving as more of a setup for the incoming storms.

A second round of storms will arrive Tuesday afternoon and these should be more robust. This could bring gusty winds, lightning, along with brief rounds of moderate to heavy rain. Small hail is a possibility but not likely.

Temperatures will cool a bit on Wednesday, but the rest of the week stays warm. It’s looking like a nice 4th of July ahead!
