Dramatic view: Florida small plane crash caught on doorbell camera
PEMBROKE PINES, Florida (NBC) -- A quiet Sunday night in Pembroke Pines was shattered when a small plane crashed into a residential neighborhood, sending four people to the hospital.
The incident occurred around 8:10 p.m., and the dramatic moment was captured on a Nest doorbell camera that provided a clear view of the Cessna Skymaster going down.
According to officials with the Federal Aviation Administration, there were four people on board the aircraft: the pilot and three passengers. Remarkably, all of them survived the crash and were able to escape the wreckage.
Rescue teams quickly arrived on the scene and transported the victims to Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Among those hospitalized were two minors, ages 16 and 13.
Residents described the terrifying sounds that accompanied the crash. Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom followed by several popping noises. One woman compared the noise to “a semi truck flipping over with a large amount of rocks,” underscoring the intensity of the impact.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. The quick response from emergency teams and the resilience of those on board prevented what could have been a far more tragic outcome.
