Warm and sunny today, high fire danger continues
The Cram Fire is still active and the portion of the fire that is showing the most hot spots is the SE corner. The Fire close to the Crook County Line and may make a run toward the Ochoco Mountains. The fuel type is dramatically different and the larger timber is more prevalent and the behavior of the flames will be challenging.
Here is a look at the footprint from the Cram Fire. The bright orange polygon are the hot spots indicated by infra-red imaging. Just wanted to show the 2024 list of Mega-Fires we had to deal with last year. The Cram Fire is only 5000 acres short of, unfortunately, becoming a Mega-Fire.

As far as the weather over the weekend is concerned, we will be near normal as far as temperatures go under mostly sunny skies today. I expect to see highs in the middle 80s both Saturday and Sunday. Winds will be categorized as breezy in the afternoon Saturday, sustained near 10 – 12 and gusting near 20 at times. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy.
Sunday, we start to see a bit more cloud cover return to the region. The chance for some light rain showers is being indicated by one of the computer models, but for the most part we should mainly see only cloudy skies late in the day. The temperatures Sunday will be a few degrees cooler due to the late day clouds that will filter some of the solar energy.
Monday looks to be partly to mostly cloudy with the chance for an afternoon shower or an isolated thunderstorm. The rain will be light and very spotty, nothing widespread is expected. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.
We dry out Tuesday and begin to warm up a little. Highs return to the low 90s Wednesday before some clouds and rain return to the region Thursday and possibly Friday.
