Extreme Heat today and Tuesday, Local Alert Weather Days in place
The hot pattern will peak today as the mercury in the thermometer will reach the triple digits in a number of locations. The heat will remain Tuesday, so the Local Alert Day is in place again Tuesday. Extreme Heat Warnings in place.

Pattern will persist into Tuesday as the Extreme Heat Warning remains.

The ridge of high pressure off the coast is impacting the region as the heat remains under the dome. There will be little movement of this high for the next 36 hours therefore the temperature readings will be well above normal Tuesday.
There is also a Red Flag Warning in place for Tuesday and Wednesday for all of the Tri Counties as the region will be dry and hot, with winds picking up late Tuesday and into Wednesday. Although not as hot Wednesday, we will see the dry fuel remain of course, and with the windy weather, fire growth will be fast under those conditions.

The Local Alert Day is in place again Tuesday
Make sure to follow the simple rules with respect to the heat. Stay inside during peak heating hours of the afternoon, stay hydrated, exercise in the morning and evening, wear light colored and loose-fitting closes and a wide brimmed hat.
Highs Tuesday are likely to be near 100 once again.

Wednesday will be “less hot” as the ridge will break down ahead of a weak system heading into the Pacific Northwest. There will not be any moisture to work with as we cool down slightly into the low 90s. The cooler than normal pattern is expected to arrive Thursday.
Highs on Thursday will be in the middle 80s, about normal for this time of year. The warm vs. hot pattern begins and will linger through the weekend. The cooler weather will be associated with a trough of low pressure that will dip into the region. the ridge of high pressure that provided the heat is not going away; it is merely drifting west or retrograding to the west. That is opening the door for the cooler, less hot, air to arrive.
Winds will pick up a bit on Thursday during the transition, but very little moisture is available for rain.
Clouds are introduced to the area Friday ahead of some showers Saturday. Isolated thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon under mostly to partly cloudy skies. Some showers return Sunday, but will be just east of the Tri-Counties.
Stay safe in the heat this week.
