Local Alert Weather Day today, spotty storms return Wednesday
BEND, Ore (KTVZ). Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are expected today as the area warms back into the middle 80s. The cloud cover and potential rain will not allow us to reach the upper 80s and all the advisories and warnings regarding heat and fire issues have been dropped.
The chance for some isolated storms that may produce brief heavy rain and lightning have prompted us to issue the Local Alert Day for today.

Wednesday will be partly to mostly cloudy as showers and storms are possible once again. The origin of the moisture is from the south and monsoonal in nature, which usually translates into pockets of heavy rain.
The showers will be associated with some lightning and some gusty winds. Not great news for firefighters, but the Flat Fire continues to be aggressively suppressed, so hopefully it will not be too disruptive to the awesome efforts in the fight.
Thursday will start a run of dry and very warm days with some upper 80s and a few low 90s. Highs Friday will be the peak heating as the region stays dry. This dry and warm pattern will linger into the last weekend of the month.
September starts out dry and above normal as the mercury reaches the middle 80s. Normal highs for the beginning of September are in the low 80s.
Stay safe.
