Above normal temperatures remain, clouds and some rain off and on into the weekend
(KTVZ, Bend, Ore). Clouds and a few showers have returned to the region as we may not reach the 90s this afternoon. Highs over the last six days have topped out at or above 90 keeping the heat wave alive. Today it may be tough to get to the 90s with abundant cloud cover and cooling rain. This is not a bad thing; we needed to cool down and get some rain, but I always am concerned about the lightning and fire dangers it brings to the region.
The rain will be with us over the next several days. Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast through at least the middle of next week. High temperatures are still expected to be in the upper 80s and low 90s Thursday as the rain will be very spotty.
Friday may be the most active day of the week with respect to thunderstorms. There will be some robust rain and isolated strong storms in the afternoon, so prepare for the storms if you are planning any outdoor activities.
Saturday and Sunday see the mercury in the thermometer only rise to the upper 70s and low 80s as a cooler pattern sets in. The chance for showers will be present each day, but only spotty rain and possibly and isolated storm, nothing organized.
Next week will be the polar opposite of this week as we are expecting widespread rain each day. The temperatures will be in the mid-70s on Monday, but the upper 60s and low 70s Tuesday and Wednesday.
