September goes out chilly and rainy

(KTVZ, Bend Ore.) Cooler, breezy and rainy pattern continues today as an area of low pressure rotates off the coast. The temperatures this week will be in the 60s each day as the cooler than normal pocket of air digs in.

The rain showers will be off and on today and Wednesday before tapering off Thursday. The rain may linger a bit on Thursday but generally the bulk of the rainy pattern is expected to end on Wednesday. The rain will be light and will not accumulate much over the high desert, but we are going to see about an inch of rain in some areas over the Cascades by the end of the day Wednesday.

The winds are coming in from the southwest today and will be gusting near 20 mph or more. This is not good news for the firefighting efforts in the area, but the “wetting” rains have helped keep the fires in the area in check.  Still dealing with the Emigrant and Foley Ridge Fires, while the Incident 1107 Fire in Jefferson County seems to have been handled quickly.

Expect to see the sunny days return by the end of the week but the temperatures will still be in the 60s.  Cooler than normal pattern remains over the weekend.

Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the middle to lower 60s under mostly sunny skies.  The fall season took an extra week to get here, but it appears that the cooler weather is here to stay.

Getting some reports of a few flakes on Mt. Bachelor from yesterday and the big mountain, Hood, got a little snow on the peak.  Not all that rare, just fun to see if you are a snowbird.

Please, Stay safe.
