Mild pattern continues with near record breaking temperatures

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) -

A ridge of high pressure is the dominating feature of the forecast this week. Highs this afternoon will be in the mid to upper 50s. Bend could see a record broken today. That old record was 59 degrees and I am forecasting a 58. It will be close, but it is possible that we see a new record set.

High temperatures are expected to be above normal through the weekend. While temperatures will dip a few degrees by the end of the week into the 40s and lower 50s, that still puts us 7-10 degrees above the seasonal average.

Sunny skies and mild temps make this week a great week for a hike or a bike ride, but maybe not the best week for snow sports.

There are some air quality issues this week due to sinking, stagnant air underneath the high pressure. Air Quality Alerts are out for the region. Avoid outdoor burning and make sure to check air quality when planning outdoor activities this week.

Have a happy Tuesday.
