Man arrested after crashing stolen car into power pole in Redmond

REDMOND, Ore (KTVZ) — A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle into a power pole and was found hours later asleep inside a motorhome. Tucker Lee Tyree was taken into custody on Feb. 8 after a series of incidents on NW Poplar Avenue in Redmond.

The investigation began at 2:24 a.m. when Deschutes County 911 received reports of a vehicle striking a power pole, which caused a power outage in the area. Deputies responding to the scene determined the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day in Redmond.

Law enforcement officers conducted a search of the area immediately following the 2:24 a.m. crash. While they confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier within the city of Redmond, the suspect was not located during the initial sweep.

At 9:32 a.m., a homeowner on NW Poplar Avenue contacted 911 to report a burglary. The caller informed dispatchers that an individual had broken into their shop. Upon checking the building, the homeowner discovered a man asleep inside a motorhome parked within the shop.

Deputies identified the man as Tyree and took him into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported to the Deschutes County Adult Jail.

Tyree faces multiple charges including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, burglary and a parole violation warrant. Information regarding the specific vehicle or the owner of the motorhome was not immediately released.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office served as the primary investigating agency. They were assisted on the scene by the Oregon State Police and a K9 unit from the Bend Police Department.
