Variably cloudy skies with rain east, above normal temperatures return

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Variably cloudy skies today with some rain in the eastern third of Oregon. Central Oregon may see a stray shower, but generally cloudy mild weather is in store for the region. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the eastern third of the state under the “General Thunderstorm” category, so no severe storms are expected, but some dry lightning is a concern.

For the local region it will be a mix of clouds and some sunshine as highs reach the low 60s. Today should be the coolest day of the work week as a ridge of high pressure develops across the area. This will allow for the mercury to hit the middle to upper 60s Tuesday and cross into the 70s Wednesday.

Plenty of sunshine will bathe Central Oregon Wednesday and Thursday help get us about 10 – 15 degrees above normal. Normal for late April in the area is around the low 60s, so middle 70s is more June territory.

Thursday remains the same as the area continues to be influenced by the ridge over the region. A few clouds return to the area but will have little to no impact on our temperature range.

Friday will continue the 70s theme under partly cloudy skies. Winds will be from the southwest, allowing the warm air to migrate into the region.

Saturday will still be in the 70s but a weak cold front will push in from the northwest. This may bring a stray shower and variably cloudy skies as the front moves through.

Sunday is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy with highs remaining in the middle to upper 70s. Little change on Monday as the dry and above normal pattern lingers.

Please, Stay safe.
