There’s Good News: Bend school resource officer repairs bikes for students in need

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Officer John Horvath, with the City of Bend Police Department, recently collected, repaired and donated bicycles to students at Bend Tech Academy and Bend High. He undertook this initiative on his own time to provide transportation to students in need. Bend-La Pine Schools recently posted this story on their FaceBook page.

According to the school district, Horvath found broken and abandoned bikes at Bend Tech Academy. He then personally rebuilt these bikes, transforming them into valuable resources for students at both Bend Tech Academy and Bend High. Bend-La Pine Schools noted that these officers "show up for students long after the bell rings."

LaKisha Clark, Principal of Bend Tech Academy, was pictured with Officer Horvath in connection with the bike donation project. Bend-La Pine Schools expressed gratitude for Officer Horvath's "compassion and heart" in serving students and families.
