There’s Good News: AT&T and Camp Fire Central Oregon team up to distribute 100 laptops in Bend

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — AT&T and Camp Fire Central Oregon partnered to distribute 100 refurbished laptops and offer digital safety training to pre-selected students on Thursday in Bend. This initiative aimed to provide local youth with essential technology and online safety skills for school, work and everyday life.

The event, held at the Sunlight Solar Building, was part of AT&T's broader work to help more people get connected and build digital skills in Oregon and nationwide. Funding for the laptops came from an AT&T investment supporting Camp Fire's Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® campaign, which encourages adults to remind young people that they matter.

The digital safety training for recipients was provided by Kids Center facilitators. The training covered topics such as cyberbullying, scams, social media safety and online predators, intended to help teens stay safer online.

Community leaders and volunteers assisted in the distribution of the laptops. Camp Fire Central Oregon leaders, staff, volunteers and youth participants were also involved in the event, which took place from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Sunlight Solar Building, located at 150 NE Hawthorne Ave in Bend, Ore.
