BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- 50501 Central Oregon will join communities across the country on Saturday, June 27, 2026, for “All of U.S. 250: Truth, Equality & Freedom.” The event in Bend is part of a nationwide day of action taking place one week before the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The local mobilization will occur from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Peace Corner, located at the intersection of Newport Avenue and Wall Street. This event is free and open to the public, coordinated by 50501, Get Free and partner organizations.

Organizers say the event comes at a pivotal moment in the nation's history. They state that the “MAGA regime is in the midst of trying to whitewash our past to lay the groundwork for a white supremacist future, erasing both the ongoing impacts from enslavement, Jim Crow and genocide, and the gains won by our ancestors.” Organizers emphasize that “reckoning with our full history is how we make this country live up to its ideals.”

Organizers also claim that “Trump wants to keep the promise of America only for wealthy, white men like him by disappearing Black and brown Americans, rolling back our civil rights and freedom to vote and taking away birthright citizenship.”

50501 Central Oregon says the June 27 mobilization is committed to nonviolent action, adding the gathering will be peaceful and focused on community solidarity.
