Pedestrian hit and killed by a train in Bend, Here’s what we’ve just learned from police

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A pedestrian died Monday after being struck by a northbound BNSF train near the intersection of Reed Market Road.

Bend Police received a call from a BNSF train conductor reporting that a pedestrian had been struck. When officers arrived, the northbound train was stopped, blocking both directions of Reed Market Road.

Officers located an unconscious man on the west side of the railroad tracks and immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Emergency responders from Bend Fire transported the man to St. Charles hospital. Reed Market Road was closed in both directions for approximately 2 hours following the incident.

The investigation is being conducted by Bend Police and BNSF Railway. The name of the man is being withheld until his family is notified.
