Trump administration moves to end 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule

OREGON (KTVZ) -- Right now, the Trump Administration is moving to end a decades-old rule protecting millions of acres of undeveloped national forest land, including roughly two million acres here in Oregon.

The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to rescind the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule.

The rule limits road construction, logging, and other development across nearly 59 million acres of national forest land nationwide.

In Oregon, about two million acres are covered by the protections, including areas that provide drinking water for communities such as Bend, Eugene, Baker City and Ashland.
