Beyond the Score, Ep. 60: Caldera girls soccer opens season with win

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- The Caldera Wolfpack girls soccer team opened the season with a win, and the young squad is already showing plenty of promise.

Caldera opened its season Tuesday with a 5-3 victory over Putnam.

The Wolfpack are one of the younger teams in the Intermountain Conference, with just six seniors among a roster of 20 players. With plenty of young talent, the team knows there will be a learning curve throughout the season.

For Caldera, the early part of the season is about building chemistry and learning how to play together. That youth also provides an opportunity for the Wolfpack to develop throughout the season. The Wolfpack's coaching staff has been impressed with the team's attitude and willingness to learn.

Caldera is now 1-1 to begin the season, with one non-league game remaining before the Wolfpack turn their attention toward league play. The team knows the challenges will increase once conference competition begins, but the early results have given Caldera confidence.

With tough matchups against teams such as Bend and Summit ahead, Caldera's focus will be on staying together and competing for all 80 minutes.
