NeighborImpact secures $50,000 to boost child care nutrition programs
(KTVZ) -- NeighborImpact received a $50,000 grant today from The Rosendin Foundation to support child care nutrition programs across Central Oregon.
The funding assists local child care providers in securing reimbursements for healthy meals and snacks served to children in their care.
The grant directly supports NeighborImpact's administration of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, a federal initiative reimbursing eligible child care meal costs. NeighborImpact's Child Care Resources division operates as the sole sponsor for the federal food program in Central Oregon, helping providers offset routine operational expenses.
Karen Prow serves as the director of NeighborImpact Child Care Resources. Prow explained that food costs can create substantial financial pressure for child care operations.
“Child care providers want to serve children healthy, nutritious food, but those costs add up quickly,” Prow said. “CACFP helps providers offer those meals without having to absorb the entire cost or pass it along to families. This grant helps NeighborImpact continue making that federal resource available to child care providers throughout Central Oregon.”
Prow added that the funding helps stabilize regional care facilities.
“Support like this has an impact beyond any one meal,” Prow said. “It supports the sustainability of local child care businesses while helping ensure children have nutritious food during the hours they spend in care.”
The funding originates from the grants program of The Rosendin Foundation, which supports non-profit organizations addressing nutritional, emotional and occupational health. Chandra Stewart serves as the executive director of The Rosendin Foundation.

NeighborImpact is a private non-profit Community Action Agency established in 1985. The organization delivers services covering food security, housing, energy assistance, early childhood education, child care resources and financial empowerment. It primarily serves Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties alongside the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, with select programs available in additional Oregon communities.
