Supplies 4 Schools fundraisers benefit local students in Central Oregon

Mid Oregon

(KTVZ) -- Mid Oregon Credit Union collected school supplies and cash donations at eight branches across Central Oregon during August as part of its annual Supplies 4 Schools fundraiser. The effort benefits the Family Access Network to support local students preparing for the school year.

The collected items and funds directly support students in Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson Counties who lack necessary classroom supplies. Mid Oregon Credit Union has collaborated with FAN advocates and local school districts for more than 20 years to distribute educational materials to families in need.

Family Access Network operates in nearly all public schools across Central Oregon. Working through dedicated advocates, the organization connects students and parents to essential services such as food, shelter, heating, health care and clothing. FAN served more than 7,600 students during the 2025-26 school year.

Kyle Frick serves as senior vice president of marketing and community relations at Mid Oregon Credit Union. Frick emphasized the credit union's long-standing support for local educational efforts.

“FAN is an amazing organization that helps kids stay in school by removing barriers and helping meet their family's basic needs. We are proud to partner with our community to collect school supplies, supporting FAN's vital work in Central Oregon school districts for more than 20 years,” Frick said.

Shelby Cala is the community outreach coordinator for FAN. Cala highlighted how essential school supplies help prepare local children for classroom learning.

“Every child should be able to walk into school feeling confident that they have all the supplies they need to succeed. Supplies four Schools helps to make sure that students across Central Oregon can show up to school with those supplies, feeling ready to learn,” Cala said. She also noted the partnership between the organizations, stating, “FAN is grateful for the support of Mid Oregon Credit Union and proud to partner with an organization that understands the importance of supporting our Central Oregon children and families.”

Mid Oregon Credit Union was established in 1957 as a member-owned financial cooperative. The financial institution serves more than 54,000 members with more than $939 million in assets, operating branch locations in Bend, La Pine, Madras, Prineville, Redmond and Sisters.
