Kaylub Giamanco’s Mother Recalls Phone Call Her Son Made to Her Following Elementary School Shooting
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- For the first time we are hearing from the mother of Kaylub Giamanco, the local father, who shot and killed the gunman at Silver Rail Elementary School on Thursday.
Gimanco's mother, Kenda Freeman recalled the emotional phone call she had with Kaylub to our CNN affiliate, KOVR-TV.
“He said, 'Mom, I just shot and killed somebody.' And I said, 'Caleb, tell me about it.' And he said, 'A man went into my daughter's school and shot kids.' And he said, 'And I looked at him point blank and I shot and killed him, mom,'” Feeman said.
Feeman also expressed sympathy for the families affected by the violence. “It's tough because I'm, well, I'm thankful that my babies are OK. There are babies that are not. And that's... that's hard to swallow cause my heart goes out to those families. They didn't get to bring their babies home,” Feeman said.
Police said the motive behind the attack remains under investigation, along with how the suspect obtained the weapon and ammunition.
