“Walk for Megan” planned for this weekend in Bend’s Old Mill District

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Happening this weekend, the Central Oregon community is coming together to honor the life of Megan Lambert, the 25-year-old teacher killed in last week's shooting at Silver Rail Elementary.

The “Walk for Megan” takes place Sunday, October 25th, starting in the Old Mill District and following a route along the Deschutes River.

Organizers say everyone is welcome to take part.

Participants will meet at 12:30 p.m. behind Dudley's Bookshop, with the walk beginning at 1 p.m.

Carnations will be available for people to carry in Megan's memory, as they were Megan's favorite flower.

Thump Coffee will provide hot cocoa.

Those who would like to help support the Silver Rail community can also donate to the Megan Lambert Memorial Fund.
