Daylight saving time ends Sunday: What Central Oregonians should know

NewsDesk

Central, Ore. (KTVZ) — Central Oregonians will gain an extra hour this weekend as daylight saving time comes to an end.

Clocks will fall back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday, November 1, marking the return to standard time.

While the change gives people an extra hour overnight, it also means earlier sunrises and sunsets, bringing less daylight into the evening hours.

Most smartphones and other connected devices will update automatically, but clocks that don’t adjust on their own will need to be changed manually.

The shift in daylight can also affect sleep patterns and daily routines. Experts recommend maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and getting natural light in the morning to help the body adjust.

KTVZ is taking a closer look at how the time change affects sleep and what Central Oregonians can do to prepare.
