Coronavirus stimulus checks begin to arrive in Central Oregon
Showing up in accounts by direct deposit
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- For those of you wondering when you'll be receiving your federal stimulus check, it may be coming soon.
The U.S. Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service announced that millions of Americans will receive their stimulus checks by this Wednesday, and some people here in Central Oregon have already received their deposits.
Qualifying taxpayers can receive $1,200 to $2,400 based on their tax filing from 2018 and 2019. The money is part of a $2 trillion coronavirus relief bill that was passed back in March.
The Treasury Department also reports that Social Security recipients will receive payments later this month.
A Prineville woman told NewsChannel 21 she received her $1,200 check Monday in her bank account, she says it was labeled a federal tax refund.
Debbie Sollars said she knew it was her stimulus check because she already received her tax refund for this year. She shared how she’ll put her money to use.
“Right now, it's just going to sit in my bank, until I can go out and get my hair done," Sollars said. "I don’t have any idea what I am going to spend it on. Get caught up on things, mostly."
Some banks are noting whether or not you have a check pending, but if you're unsure, the IRS is working to create a separate online portal for you to track you direct deposit information.
