Deschutes County sheriff's Detective Doug Jackson found 'Baby Bradley' abandoned in woods south of Bend; two years later, the boy is 3 and doing well, officials say

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Two years after a baby was left in the woods south of Bend by his father and rescued hours later, Deschutes County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday shared a good-news update and a recent family photo of "Baby Bradley," who recently turned 3 and is "doing amazing!"

An Ohio man, Brandon Blouin, drew worldwide headlines in May of 2018 after leaving his son in the woods after he went looking for the boy's mother. She had left the car they were living in off China Hat Road. Blouin said he'd set the child down and couldn't find him.

An extensive six-hour search ended in success when a detective found the sleeping boy, naked and face-down in the dirt and brush. He appeared to be in fairly good condition, but an examination found injuries and methamphetamine in his system.

Blouin was accused of illegally taking the child from his grandmother in West Virginia, the boy's legal guardian.

Nearly a year later, Blouin accepted a plea deal and prison sentence of more than 2 1/2 years.

"Family shared with us an updated photo of him this week," the Facebook post said. "He very recently turned 3 and family tells us he is doing amazing!!"

"Happy Birthday Bradley!!!" the sheriff's office added. "The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office will undoubtedly reflect back on this case for many years to come."
