NeighborImpact adds representative payee services
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- With a new program added this year, NeighborImpact is helping individuals with cognitive and physical limitations manage their disability benefits.
The Representative Payee program was established in partnership with the State of Oregon under the Oregon Money Management Program (OMMP) to meet an under-served demand in the region.
A Representative Payee functions as a fiduciary of individuals’ finances that lack the capacity to manage their own funds. NeighborImpact functions as a Representative Payee for individuals with income that is derived from Social Security. The Social Security Administration approves each client and then deposits clients’ monthly benefits directly to NeighborImpact.
The Representative Payee then pays all of the clients’ bills on their behalf. This typically includes obligations such as housing, utilities, food, medical expenses, personal care and clothing, etc. NeighborImpact also distributes funds directly to clients for personal needs based on the individuals’ monthly spending plan. Any funds left over after meeting the client's current needs are kept in an interest bearing account for future needs. No portion of the client’s funds are kept by NeighborImpact and no fees are charged. The program is absolutely free to qualified clients.
To apply for the program, interested parties are encouraged to call (541) 323-0089.
As an essential business providing essential services to disadvantaged individuals in Central Oregon, NeighborImpact will continue to serve all three counties and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Those needing assistance may access services via telephone and online or in person in Bend, Redmond and Madras.
