There’s Good News: Caldera students explore hands-on National Guard training

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Several hundred students at Caldera High School participated in a career exploration event last week to learn about technical fields in the Army National Guard. The two-day program provided hands-on exposure to military career tracks.

The event focused on introducing students to real-world applications of the Army National Guard's Military Occupational Specialties. Participants took part in practical exercises designed to demonstrate skills utilized across various military roles.

Simulations during the event covered firefighting, CPR, night-vision rescue and hazardous materials response. Several of these interactive simulations incorporated virtual reality goggles.

Alison McClellan, school-to-career manager in the Caldera Future Center, coordinated the educational opportunity for participating students.
