Redmond woman killed, 5 injured in Hwy. 97 crash near Terrebonne

TERREBONNE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A Redmond woman was killed and five people were injured, two seriously, in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on U.S. Highway 97 south of Terrebonne that shut the highway for several hours, Oregon State Police said Saturday.
Troopers and other first responders were called to the crash near milepost 118 about 3:15 p.m., troopers said.
A preliminary investigation found that Ann Marie Brock, 59, of Redmond, was driving a Chevy Malibu north on the highway and preparing to turn left into a driveway when it was struck from behind by a Nissan Rogue driven by James Rooks, 73, of Crooked River Ranch, OSP said.
The impact pushed the Malibu into the southbound lane and into the path of a Toyota Highlander driven by Stephanie Bates, 31, of Forest Grove, troopers said.
Brock sustained fatal injuries and died at the crash scene, OSP said.
Rooks and his passenger, Jacquelyn Rooks, 76, were taken to St. Charles Redmond with serious injuries, troopers said. Bates and her passengers, David Bates and a juvenile female, also were injured and were taken to the Redmond hospital.
OSP was assisted by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Bend Police Department, Central Oregon Police Chaplaincy, ODOT and Redmond Fire and Rescue.
The crash was reported near near the Highway 97-O'Neil Highway Junction, two miles south of Terrebonne. Traffic was being detoured onto Canal Boulevard until the highway reopened late Friday night.
