Wash. state man killed in 3-vehicle crash on Highway 26
(Update: OSP updates info on crash, IDs victim)
WARM SPRINGS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A Washington state man was killed in a three-vehicle crash Sunday that closed a nearly 30-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 26 on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, Oregon State Police reported.
Troopers and other emergency personnel responded shortly before noon to the crash near milepost 77.
A preliminary investigation found that Ryan Ranson, 33 of Lake Stevens, Wash., was heading east when he sideswiped an oncoming SUV driven by a Beaverton man, then collided with an oncoming pickup driven by another Washington state man, troopers said.
Ranson sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, but none of the nine people in the two other vehicles were injured, OSP reported.
The crash investigation closed Highway 26 for about 5 ½ hours.
Because of the extended closure between mileposts 72 and 103, ODOT established a detour on Oregon Highway 216 and U.S. Highways 197/97, but motorists were urged to find another route.
OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT and Warm Springs fire and police agencies.
