‘Drifters’ Cruise To Redmond For Harvest Run

Car enthusiasts and a few “drifters cruised into Redmond Saturday for some fun in the sun — and for a good cause.

The Drifters Car Club played host to tons of horsepower and chrome as more than 200 vintage cars lined downtown Redmond.

This was the 18th annual show, which included a barbecue, a car contest, poker walk and a raffle.

The Harvest Run is also a fund-raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Hospice of Redmond and Sisters and the Sparrow Clubs.

Antiques, hot rods and custom cars — drivers said they just love to show them off.

“I sanded this entire car and filed down the fenders, and my dad painted it in our driveway in 1960,” said Patricia Beckingham, the owner of a 1931 Model A Sport Coupe. “It’s painted an aurora turquoise — a Cadillac color.”

“Everyone just really likes the barbecue, and it seems like people come back every year just to see old friends,” said Jim Larson, president of the Drifters Car Club. “It’s just a good, friendly deal for the people.”

Organizers said the Harvest Run just keeps getting bigger and better every year.
