Oregon Attorney General Candidate Visits Bend
Ellen Rosenblum, one of two Democratic candidates for Oregon attorney general, was invited to a brunch Satruday hosted by Mike Dugan and Judy Stiegler.
Over 40 people came to their house to meet Rosenblum and hear why she is running. Current Attorney General John Kroger, a Democrat, is not seeking a new term, for health reasons.
Rosenblum doesn’t have a Republican challenger but is running against fellow Democrat Dwight Holton.
Rosenblum says she would raise the profile of issues about families and children, noting that half of the employees in the attorney general’s office work in the area of child support.
“I believe based on my experience and passion for the justice system, I can do a great job looking out for our most vulnerable citizens. And that’s what I care the most about, and that’s what I want to do as your next attorney general,” Rosenblum said.
Rosenblum has 36 years experience being a lawyer and judge in Oregon.
She says she has bi-partisan support including former state senator Neil Bryant of Bend, former governor Barbara Roberts, and former University of Oregon president Dave Frohnmeyer.
If she is elected, Rosenblum would be Oregon’s first woman to serve as attorney general.
