Mountain View Hospital is inviting the people of Jefferson County to celebrate National Hospital Week, May 6 through 12, with a series of community events.

National Hospital Week, the nation?s largest health care event, is a celebration of the history, technology and dedicated professionals that make hospitals beacons of confidence and care.

Mountain View Hospital will be hosting three community events including:

?Family Swim Night at the Madras Aquatic Center – Monday, May 7 from 4:00-7:30 pm

Free and open to the community. Food donations for the Jefferson County Food Bank will be accepted. All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

?Buy Fresh Buy Local Fair – Thursday, May 10 from 1:00-4:00 pm

Featuring local artisans, farmers and tradesmen at Mountain View Hospital. Free gardening class, ?Successful Gardening in the High Desert,? will be hosted that evening at Mountain View Hospital from 5:30-6:30 pm. Call 541-475-3882 to register for the free class.

?American Red Cross Blood Drive – Friday, May 11 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

One donation can save the lives of up to three people. To register to donate blood, contact MVH at 541-475-3882.

National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
