Lee Anderson began working at KTVZ on January 1, 1997 as Reporter and Anchor/Producer of KTVZ News At Sunrise. In May of 1999, he left his “on-air” role to take on the responsibilities of News Director, a role he held until March 2007.

In February of 2003, Lee decided it was time to get back to his anchoring roots, and was seen each weeknight at 5 and 6 pm. Then in 2007, he took off the management hat , and again became a full-time anchor, co-hosting the 11 p.m. show. In May of ’07 Lee made history by co-anchoring the first ever Newschannel 21 on FOX (10pm on KFXO.)

After two years of anchoring the 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts, in September of 2009 Lee, once again, took on therole of News Director – and again left his “on-air” role invery capable hands (Adam Aaro is the new evening co-anchor).

There aren’t many jobs in the newsroom Lee hasn’t done.

Before coming to Bend, Lee worked for 9 years at WTWO, the NBC affiliate in Terre Haute, Indiana. While there Lee started as the weekend Sports Anchor, then moved on to Reporter/Anchor/Photographer of the weekend news, and finally in September of 1990 Lee was named Anchor and Producer of “Newschannel Two Today,” the morning news program.

Over the years, Lee has anchored and produced thousands of newscasts, interviewed everyone from Presidents, and Congressmen, to Foreign Diplomats, and Hollywood stars, but his favorite interviewees are the common “Men on the street”, because as Lee likes to say, “We’re people telling stories about people”.

Lee enjoys being involved in the Central Oregon community. He’s grateful to serve on the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Oregon Advisory Board. For the past three years he’s co-hosted the annual Comedy Benefit for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Lee is a 1987 graduate of Indiana State University in Radio/Television/Film. At ISU, he was a two-time winner of the Cork McHague Memorial Broadcasting Scholarship for outstanding student broadcasters. He was also a member of Alpha Epsilon Rho, the national student broadcasting honorary society, and served as the AERho’s Vice-President during his Senior year.

Lee is also a fellow in the RIAS Berlin Kommission, an internationally respected German-American Journalist exchange program.

He’s proud that NewsChannel 21 is now considered a host station for German Journalists, and three other KTVZ employees have also been named Fellows in the prestigious program.

Lee is single and lives with his German shepherd, Zizou, in Bend.
