Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show winds down

If you thought the big week of the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show ended Saturday with the main event, it didn’t.

It continued Sunday with the Save it for Sunday event.

This is the second year of events at Five Pine Lodge and Conference Center in Sisters.

Organizers call it a beautiful way to wind down the quilt show weekend.

There was a walking tour of quilts around the lodge and a lecture from Gwen Marston, talking about folk art textiles.

While the weather and sudden cloudburst did stall some of the show yesterday, all quilts were safe and accounted for.

“Our visitors helped out by holding quilts from out from under the rain,” said Anne Richardson, Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show president. “Our volunteers showed up out of the woodwork to help.

“We had everybody that we needed and then some to get what needed to be done, done. And we had a wonderful show — and actually had a wonderful ending.”

Richardson said the crowds Saturday were beyond her expectations, and there were more people than in years past.

Marston on Sunday was discussing her collection of 100 folk art textile pieces from over 39 countries around the world.

She told the audience where they were from, how they were created and how they influence the work she does now.
