DCSO ‘Shop With a Cop’ helps fire-hit couple

KTVZ

On Monday, after learning of a structure-fire that destroyed a home located in northwest Bend, deputies of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office assisted Bonnie Winstead and Justin King through the Shop with a Cop program.

The Bend couple suffered a tragic loss which left them homeless and without many necessities of day-to-day life. Deputies accompanied Winstead and King to the Bend Wal-mart where they were able to obtain personal items to adequately care for themselves in the immediate future.

The Shop with a Cop Program was developed more than eight years ago with the goal of assisting children and families in need through donated proceeds. Such gracious proceeds have been used not only at Christmas time but throughout the year.

Those interested in making a contribution to the Shop with a Cop program may contact Lois Brice of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office at 541-385-3247.
