Over 150 doctors, caregivers, volunteers, past and present Board members, business people, and other community members joined Hospice of Redmond on Wednesday, July 11 to celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary in Central Oregon.

The afternoon event featured a barbeque for all the guests and music by local musicians, CinderBlue.

“We wanted to say thank you to the hundreds of people that have helped make Hospice successful over the years,” Rebecca Bryan, Executive Director of Hospice stated.

Since 1981, Hospice of Redmond has impacted the lives of terminally ill patients by assisting them and their families with their own unique physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

The nonprofit organization serves residents in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties. It provides quality end-of-life services, using various methods of pain control and symptom management.

“We go to the patient and treat them in their own home, wherever that may be,” says Bryan. “Our goal is for patients to remain in their homes with their loved ones and to be as active and in control of their lives as possible.”

Hospice of Redmond also offers bereavement counseling, caregiver support, community education, alternative therapies such as massage and acupuncture, and Camp Sunrise, a grief camp for children.

In addition, a Transitions program is offered by Hospice. This is a non-medical program that supports clients through the mental, physical, and emotional challenges that may accompany a life-limiting illness.

The program helps people understand their illness and to connect to the available community resources that may be open to them. It also helps arrange for respite care and assists the family in linking up with a variety of non-medical services through a network of trained volunteers.
