Lowe’s Heroes help improve disc golf course
Central Oregon Lowe’s Home Improvement employees were in Redmond Saturday, helping to improve a local disc golf course.
Last year, the Redmond Parks Department approved a disc golf course on Southwest 15th Street and Black Butte Boulevard.
But finances have kept it from getting any improvements.
More than 20 volunteers from the city, disc golf enthusiasts and the Lowe’s Heroes Project donated their time to build new launch pads, tee signs and benches.
“You can come down here, it’s free, there is no charge to play,”said Julie Devoe, treasurer for the Redmond Parks Foundation. “It’s a free course, and people come down here with their friends and their family and their kids. And they really just enjoy tossing the disc around.
“When we get the baskets up, those will be up in two to three weeks because we are short the funds right now, but we are going to get those ordered and get those installed.”
Every year, every Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores around the country pick a community project to help make their communities better places to live, work and play.
The parks foundation hopes to have the course completed by mid-August.
