Jefferson County chase, search proves fruitless

KTVZ

Sheriffs’ deputies in Jefferson County are looking for a Portland man they say led them on a chase early Thursday morning.

Det. Starla Green said she pulled over Samson Price, 28, for expired tags on Highway 26 near the border with the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Green said she approached the car and was talking with Price when he took off.

Deputies say they chased Price back onto the reservation, where he sped down Highway 24 south toward Lake Billy Chinook. They say he lost control of his car and crashed, and that’s when he took off into a brushy area.

About 10 people from Jefferson County and Warms Springs searched the area for about two hours, on the ground and by air.

Green said they were concerned Price may have suffered injuries from the crash. She added he could have also been picked up.

Price has an address listed in Portland, and deputies say there is a chance he could have left the area. The also say he is known to police in Warm Springs and Jefferson County.
