Jason Conger holds Bend grassroots event

KTVZ

Jason Conger held a grassroots event Saturday, starting at Jewell Elementary School in Bend. Many volunteers, and even other Republican candidates showed up to the event.

The group spent the day knocking on doors in Bend neighborhoods, campaigning for their candidate.

Conger said this campaign season is really all about the economy, and getting people back to work.

“Probably No. 1 priority here locally is to get funding for the expansion for the OSU-Cascades, and then close behind that is more economic development,” said Conger. “It’s really critical that we get people back to work, and give them opportunities to support their families.”

Conger will be up against Democratic challenger Nathan Hovekamp to keep his seat in November.

Hovekamp also has been busy preparing and hosting events with visitors in recent days, including Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian and state Rep. Tina Kotek.
