Central Oregon Great Giveaway draws hundreds

KTVZ

More than 1,100 people came out to grab free clothes, and home goods at the 10th annual Central Oregon Great GiveAway Saturday. The event allowed people to pick out outfits and other donated items in locations in Bend, Redmond and Prineville.

The event is put on by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Event Chair David Smiley said the event is a great way for families in need to make their budgets stretch, and just in time for back-to-school.

“Parents brought their kids, parents did shopping for their kids, and it made a big difference, I think,” Smiley said. “Families were able to get a lot of basic things here and make their school clothing budget go a lot farther.”

The Central Oregon Great Giveaway took in tens of thousands of items donated by community members.
