Horse found wandering in La Pine back with owner

KTVZ

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that its announcement of a horse found wandering in the La Pine area last week was seen by a friend of the owner, leading to their reunion.

The horse, a paint mare (nicknamed “Pantera” by the sheriff’s office) was found wandering at large in the La Pine area on Wednesday, Aug. 22. The callers advised she had been wandering in the area since at least August 19th.

On Thursday, sheriff’s Cpl. Neil Mackey Mackey said a friend of the horse’s owner saw the item posted on KTVZ.COM, called the owner, and horse and owner have been reunited.

Mackey said the horse’s owner was moving from property in La Pine to the Wagon Trail Ranch area in northern Klamath County. The horse ran off before their last trip, and they had to go out of town, so they asked a friend watching the property to watch for her.

Mackey had said Wednesday that she appeared to have been well-taken care of, and while somewhat “flighty,” it appeared that she might have had some training and/or handling in the past.
