St. Charles-Bend floor project begins Monday

KTVZ

Starting Monday, Sept. 10, the flooring in the hallway from the Family Birthing Center to the Intensive Care Unit at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend will be replaced.

The project will take place in multiple phases spanning about a six-week period. Different sections of the hallway will be closed for five-day increments throughout the construction, except the first phase, which will be completed in three days.

Caregivers, patients and families will be required to use alternate routes while the construction takes place.

This project was included in the Bend hospital’s capital improvement budget this year because of patient safety and satisfaction concerns related to the existing flooring. The tiles are breaking down and the concrete underneath has formed pockets in many places making the floor bumpy and uncomfortable for patients as they arewheeled down the hall.
